I am an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher.  I work with Preschool through 4th Grade ELL students. 

My Goal: to help students grow in their acquisition of the English language so that they are able to be successful in school and in life and are able to pursue the hopes and dreams that God has planted in their hearts. 

To Accomplish this Goal:

• Teachers collaborate to help make learning accessible 
• Students are given Individual Learning Plans and accommodations
• Students are taught vocabulary for social and instructional language
• Students are instructed 1:1, in small groups, or assisted in the classroom
• A variety of instructional methods, techniques, activities, and materials are used
• Small group testing is used for WIDA, NWEA, and ILEARN assessments
• Success is celebrated with students, staff, and families

A Sample of Some Activities:

• Using picture vocabulary cards while playing “Mother May I?”
• Playing board games that teach and reinforce comprehension and grammar skills 
• Listening to stories, fables, poems, and nonfiction texts
• Identifying story elements
• Dramatizing fables 
• Watching videos to aid understanding, such as a farmer threshing wheat
• Solving riddles and analogies, working puzzles, and drawing pictures
• Speaking into a microphone and using voice typing to check accuracy
• Working in phonics and grammar workbooks
• Writing and editing
