Hello! My name is Mrs. Mary Rancourt. I came from a large, Catholic family and graduated
from St. Christopher School and Cardinal Ritter High School. I have bachelor and master’s
degrees in Elementary Education from Butler University. I am licensed to teach Grades 1-6
General Elementary and Grades K-12 Special Education with endorsements in learning
disabilities and serious emotional handicaps. I taught for 7 ½ years at St. Christopher and Holy Cross Central schools before having children. While home, I started a Mathematics Pentathlon Club and volunteered in several ministries. I home schooled one child for 3 ½ years. Recently, for 7 years, I worked as an Instructional Assistant for Union Elementary School in Zionsville. Last year, I came to Little Flower School as a substitute teacher for Mrs. Mennel and Mrs. Echegaray’s maternity leaves. Everyone was very helpful and welcoming! I love the family atmosphere at Little Flower School and feel very blessed to be teaching here!
My husband, Robert, and I have 4 children who also attend Catholic schools. I love cheering them on in sports, music, and theater. I love spending family time playing, traveling, singing, and praying together. Other hobbies include working in my flower and vegetable garden, cooking, reading, writing, bicycling, hiking, painting, playing cards, planning vacations, serving others, and visiting with family and friends.
My favorite books include: The New American Bible; Simply Surrender – Quotes by St. Therese of Lisieux; Living, Loving, and Learning by Leo Buscaglia; Growing up Gifted – Developing the Potential of Children at School and at Home by Barbara Clark; George Washington’s World by Genevieve Foster; and The Children’s Book of Virtues, edited by William Bennett.
My favorite musical is The Sound of Music.
My favorite singers are my daughters and Sarah Brightman.
My favorite quote: When the Blessed Mother told the servers at the wedding feast at Cana to “Do whatever He (Jesus) tells you".
I love teaching! It has been my passion for decades to help children who struggle to learn. I believe in them and in their potential. I have a lot of education and experience using many techniques to teach children who have learning differences. I love helping children to discover how they learn best, sharing ways to help them learn and remember better, and discovering new knowledge about the world with them. I will do everything I can to help children to be successful. I am enjoying my new role as a Resource Teacher at Little Flower School.
